Match Summary
Portishead travelled up to high flying Odd Down on the back of a 2-1 midweek victory against Chard but with a catalogue of injuries and unavailability indeed 9 squad members were unavailable for this fixture and manager Willis went with a very youthful team which included 6 teenagers.

The more experienced home side quickly settled down and were unlucky when a thunderous strike from 30 yards hit keeper Niall Brown's crossbar inside the first 5 minutes, the lead wasn't long in coming though when some sloppy defending saw Odd Down's wide man Cooper beat Brown with a crisp shot from 8 yards out.

A few minutes later the referee awarded the home side a spot kick for handball against the luckless Hatfield but Brown made a terrific save however 2 minutes later the home team were 2 up when the Odd Down centre half rose unchallenged to head home from a corner.

Posset then lost there influential skipper Pettitt with a recurrence of his achilles injury to be replaced by Trevarthen making his debut, with the home side sitting back a little Posset began to fight back and after Mapstone spurned a glorious chance to score it was debutant Trevarthen who fired home spectacularly to reduce the arrears.

Posset were back on level terms on the stroke of half time when following great interplay from Farrier and Mapstone it was left to Si Kelly to nip one under the portly frame of the home keeper.

The second half saw an even contest with the home team creating more openings but for a couple of splendid saves from Brown Posset would have been struggling and the winner came some 10 minutes from time when Odd Down's sub pounced on a flick on to give Brown no chance.

Posset were denied what looked a clear penalty in the final minute to go home empty handed but a lot of positives will have been taken from this performance from such a young team indeed Mapstone was the oldest player at 28 when the game finished.
