Portishead travelled down to Somerset in need of 3 points against fellow strugglers Chard but the win proved too big a hurdle and Posset came away with what they deserved which was absolutely nothing. The away team chose to go down the steep slope first half but never really put the home side under enough pressure and only a couple of opportunities were created mostly due to poor defending rather than creative play. Holder almost got in on the end of a miss hit Brice shot and Lynch came close with a well struck cross shot.
The home side took the lead following a corner which was initially only partially cleared and although Clements made a fine block the ball fell to the Chard skipper who beat an unsighted Ganfield from 10 yards.
After a few harsh words in the dressing room at half time Posset's second half display was no improvement on the first and only managed one effort on target which was a long range effort from Cleary, it was no surprise when Chard scored their second with 5 minutes left when a fine chip from their winger left keeper Ganfield stranded.
