With another change up front the hosts started well, Portishead passed the ball well and made a number of opening chances for Lynch and Skipper Cleve Holder. After some close efforts, Cleve missed a golden opportunity to put Town in front with a one on one! Another Mapstone mazzy, and a far post ball allowed the high rising Hughes to head the ball goal bound, only to be tipped onto the post by the scrambling keeper.
Odd down eventually found there feet and after being awarded a questionable free kick against the hard working Cleary, Rawlins scored into the far stick against a struggling Ganfield who was later taken to Hospital with a neck injury.
Following the break Posset continued to hustle. Good work starting with Clements down the right hand side gave Andy Lynch the opportunity to put a dangerous ball in from the corner. Some hectic Odd down defending allowed Hughes to fire the ball back across for Gill to pick a spot away from the keeper. 1 each.
Due to the departure of Ganfield, Posset had made further changes in personnel and positioning and it was this that caused the final goal. An unfortunate Cleary, covering the sticks was deemed to bring down an on coming Odd Down striker. The resulting penalty allowed Rawlins to score his and Odd Downs second.
Posset look forward to their next challenge against Westbury with ever improving performances and confidence, their season looks up…
